With the NBA Draft now just days away, the NBA rumor mill is moving at full speed. Here's what PBD is hearing in regards to the latest rumblings around the league.
Word around the NBA is the Cleveland Cavaliers are likely to stand pat. According to sources, the Cavaliers have discussed potential trades with Portland Trail Blazers to swap #4 and #24 for #6 and #11 but the Cleveland front office seems content to stay at #4 and select from the players that should be available at their pick.
As previously reported, the Houston Rockets have approached both Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors about trading into the lottery to select Andre Drummond. According to one rival executive the Rockets may also have interest in Thomas Robinson if he falls.
News out of Orlando is newly hired GM Rob Hennigan has dismissed various scouts that has the Magic scrambling to finalize their draft board. Do not be surprised to see a player like Royce White get a new look by the Magic at #19. White reportedly impressed the Oklahoma City Thunder brass when he worked out for them and despite a reported promise from the Boston Celtics from other outlets, the Magic could decide that White is worth the risk and take him.
Ohio State Jared Sullinger’s name has been sliding down draft boards around the league recently with news of medical red flags, however there appears to be strong indications from Sullinger's camp that one team in the lottery still views him as a viable selection if he's available when they pick. If Sullinger were to slip out of the lotto though, a couple teams to watch will be both Denver and Boston. They are two teams in a position to draft the best player available and comfortable assuming any risks with Sullinger.
As previously mentioned, the Kings and Warriors appear willing to trade down. The first round could see a flurry of deals as the Bobcats, Rockets, Timberwolves and Grizzlies all appear willing to trade down as well.
