Demetri McCamey

PG | Illinois | 6’3” | 205 lbs | 2/21/89 |
To the surprise of just about everyone in basketball McCamey declared for the draft last season. Those close to him believe this was done in order to gain exposure for the 2011 draft. McCamey is an exciting senior as he has fully developed his offensive repertoire while in Champaign. Going into the draft McCamey is taking full advantage of his final season.
On offense, not too many players in the country are putting up 16 ppg and 7 apg. McCamey utilizes his great size for a PG to penetrate through defenses and kick it out to teammates or finish in the lane. Amazingly, McCamey has developed his jumper and is now shooting over 50% from 3.
Defensively, no point guard will back down McCamey and while not lightning quick he knows how to use his length to disrupt and frustrate opponents. Being a senior with great size but lacking elite quickness will lower McCamey’s ceiling in the eyes of scouts but someone will get a steal in the second round and at worst have a backup PG capable of playing 15-20 minutes a night.
